Seth found this spider in our backyard today. I think it is the coolest spider I have ever seen. It was so awesome.

Ryan found a spider in our house today. He came running over to me, scared to death of the black spider he just saw on the carpet by where he was playing. I go over there with him and he refuses to touch the ground, standing on my feet to ensure that his are no where near the possible location of the spider. We can't find it. He wants a snack but cries for me to take him over the spider ridden carpet to the stool by the counter. Then he realizes that he has to go to the bathroom...across a lot of carpet land with great spider potential. He is standing on the stool, holding himself like he is going to stand there and pee on himself before he walks across the spiderland. I gave in and carried him to the bathroom so he wouldn't pee his pants.

Somewhere in the middle of this I did a horrible thing. I think it was after he initially spotted the spider and sought refuge in the chair with me by the computer. He was sitting in the chair while I dutifully searched the floor for the super scary spider. I wasn't seeing anything . Then I saw the black spider ring he got at a birthday party, laying on the ground by the chair. I say to him, "Did it look like this?" and hold up the spider ring in front of his face. Oh my goodness! The look on his face was priceless. He was shocked, scared and disbelieving, all at the same moment. And after the realization sunk in that it was a toy he started laughing like crazy. We sat and laughed and laughed. It was awesome.

Ryan also helped me with sorting the laundry this morning. He loves for me to bury him in the clothes. LOVES IT! He has to be completely covered up. I am really enjoying my Mommy and Ryan time while Laura and Seth are at school. It is fun to have some one on one time. After lunch we laid down on his bed and read some books together. I love those quiet moments together.
